Marvel Hero Rush is the Marvel trading card game from Card Fun, and it plays differently from most TCGs on our shelves. Position matters, big heroes cost you smaller ones, and you win by finding holes in your opponent's line. The easiest way to learn is to play one game, so we have demo decks ready to play in store.
The product line so far
The official Marvel Hero Rush site lists four Infinity Stone Starter Decks (Reality SD01, Mind SD02, Space SD03 and Time SD04) and The Avengers (BP01) expansion. Per the official pack art, BP01 is 6 cards per pack and 20 packs per box.
The newest product on the official list is Era of Spiders (SP01), labeled "Special Pack 01". The official packaging shows 6 cards per pack, 80+20 card types and 20 packs per box, with Spider-Man front and center. Release dates for SP01 vary by region and retailer, and we have no confirmed date for the Philippines yet. We do not stock it right now.
How a game works, in plain terms
This is based on ComicBook.com's breakdown of the official tutorial video. You can watch that video on the official site's Play Rules page.
- Four Battle Zones plus a base. Your Battle Zones are Front, Back, Left Wing and Right Wing. Heroes in your base cannot be targeted, but they cannot attack either.
- Calling heroes. Level 1 to 3 heroes can be called without an extra cost. Level 4 to 6 heroes are paid for by retreating heroes and set cards whose levels add up to the cost. For example, a level 6 Captain America can be paid with a level 3, a level 2 and one set card.
- Range decides who you can hit. R1 hits directly in front, and R2 reaches two spots away, which includes the Wing zones. You can rearrange your Battle Zones at the start of your Battle Phase.
- Fights compare power. The higher power wins, and the loser goes to the Retreat area.
- How you win. Attack an empty enemy Battle Zone to score a Rush Point. Get 9 Rush Points and you win. You also win if your opponent's Character Deck runs out.
The takeaway: you are not just knocking heroes out. You are opening gaps and then walking through them.
Which starter should you try?
Each starter is built around one Infinity Stone, so the best way to choose is to play the demos and see which one feels right. Ask us at the counter and we will set up a game.
